In 2004 a number of palm oil producing companies, sector organisations and NGOs took the initiative to stimulate the sustainable production of palm oil. This cooperation led to the "Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil" (RSPO).
We offer RSPO group certification under the certificate number SCS-RSPOSCC-000089.
These days palm oil can be found in countless products, but it is also well known for deforestation of tropical rainforests. In order to be able to offer sustainable palm oil, the RSPO was founded. Palm oil with the RSPO-label assures that at least 95% of the palm oil in a product is produced sustainably. For example, RSPO palm oil may not contribute to the destruction of natural forests and the habitats of endangered species. Requirements are also set for the use of pesticides, waste water management, energy and greenhouse gases, and respect for the rights of employees and local residents is central.
A response to the growing global demand for food;
support of affordable food prices;
support of poverty reduction;
protection of social interests, communities and workers;
protection of fauna and flora.
An RSPO certificate is intended for palm oil processors and traders, manufacturers of consumer goods and retailers.
Companies that use less than 500 MT (metric tonnes) of palm oil products annually can obtain their own RSPO certificate via a group certificate. Find out more about the advantages of a group certificate and the practical aspects of the certification process here.
